Yung: The Melbourne Food & Wine festival was on this weekend....I told you so...yet another festival. If there's no festival next weekend, then I'll just have to make one up for continuity. We were lucky the Food & Wine festival was hosted in Southbank. A short walk out to the boulevard and one is confronted with a continuous row of stands along the Yarra, where you can sample wines from the various winery/producers. Surprisingly they were virtually all wine stores, and not really any food, so why the Food in the "food & wine" and why not just call it Wine festival? I guess for some, alcohol is a substitute for food anyway right? With all the various types of wine available, Alyssa must have been overwhelmed, or at least confused, because despite this once a year event in Melbourne today, we managed to stock up on seven bottles of Alyssa's favourite reds and desert wines.....albeit from Liquorland !!
This weekend, we also had friends visiting from Sydney - Eugene & Van. Over to you Alyssa, for the run down....
Alyssa: Eugene and Van are officially our third visitors from Sydney (Trevor & Susan came down to help Yung unpack in January, and Sandro & Natalie were down for the Grand Prix). We took Eugene & Van to our favourite haunts starting with breakfast at E Gusto followed by shopping at Southgate. I am pleased to see that Eugene is every bit a metrosexual - giving his girlfriend constructive feedback on the 'what's in' and 'what's so last season' of fashion jewellery (See pics). If only Yung could show the same level of enthusiasm for my hand bags and shoes expenditures (the usual response I get is "haven't you got enough of those?!")...We also shopped at Melbourne's Bourke Street which is the equivalent of Sydney's Pitt Street except there's trams running through the pedestrian walkways. We ended the day with more shopping and refueling at the yummy Koko Black Choclates cafe that sells divine Belgium chocolates and desserts made on the spot (yes, yes, my dieting campaign will start soon). Next weekend we're coming back to Sydney to spend time with our families over Easter and hopefully catch up with some of you as well!
