There is a bun in the oven

Alyssa: Today I’m officially 19 weeks / 5 months preggers. I’ve now passed the “had she had too much for lunch?” stage of speculation to the “there’s definitely a bun in the oven” stage. So far, I’ve had a really easy pregnancy – no morning sickness (just a bit of queasiness at the 7-8 week mark), no raging hormones and no tiredness. However, I’ve developed a very hearty appetite. When I was 8 weeks preggers, I was involved in a project at work where I was working closely with another female colleague who incidentally was also 10 weeks pregnant at the time. We hadn’t announced our pregnancy at work then, but she later said to me that she suspected I was preggers during a meeting when I was stuffing my face with savoury muffins like there was no tomorrow whilst she was getting queasy just by looking at the muffins!

Yung’s become an expert on the topic of pregnancy ever since I left a copy of the pregnancy book “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” in the toilet. He can now quote how big the fetus is suppose to be at a particular mile stone and knows all about the fetus’s stage of development. Coincidentally, Yung’s also developed a bit of a pot belly which he deems to be his way of showing moral support!

Towards the end of next week I will be having the routine 5 months ultrasound to check on the baby’s development and also find out if we’re having a girl or a boy. I had my palm read at work by the IT manager (who moonlights as a palm reader). According to her reading, I’m having a boy whereas according to my scientific deductions, I should be carrying a girl. So who is right do you think?

I’m due on 8 July.

Good God! I am still coming to terms with it. Although having said that, I truly admire what you are doing.

I don't know how you girls do it... I am obviously too selfish and not mature enough to even fathom creating miracles yet.

You do look very lovely and I'm glad to hear that it has all been smooth sailing so far.

What a wonderful early birthday present. xxx

Alyssa: Thanks for your well wishes girls. The thought of becoming a mother in a few months time is daunting but there is no turning back now!
