A rare occasion
I haven't been to too many weddings in the past few years, most of my friends have settled down a while back and have now started to produce kids (myself included). I could still remember the flurry of weddings I attended when I was in my mid to late twenties whereas nowadays, my social calendar is usually filled up with kids birthday parties. No point frocking up on these occasions unless I want to get birthday cake and dirty hand marks all over my clothes. So you can imagine my delight when I got invited to an event as rare as this. My parents agreed to look after Matty overnight as I was told that there wasn't going to be any kids there (now that's a change). We drove 2.5 hours out of Sydney to the Hunter Valley where the ceremony and reception was held and was absolutely delighted and honoured to be part of a very small and intimate Hindu wedding ceremony (conducted in English) celebrated with close family and friends of the bride and the groom. It was a shame that I couldn't drink up on the occasion given the wedding venue was at a boutique vineyard and neither could Yung since he was doing the driving (someone actually gave him a can of Red Bull to help him with the 2.5 hour drive back!) but it was a great celebration nevertheless.
