A day at the beach

When Yung and I were living in Melbourne, we use to snub the quality of the beaches there. We felt sorry for the Melbournites whom we thought were deprived of the real beach experience that Sydneysiders take for granted such as the constant 40 degrees heat in summer, fantastic white sand and clear blue water. We vowed that when we move back to Sydney, our kid's weekend would be synonymous with sandcastles, waves and fish and chips under a sun shelter. Fast forward to present time, and despite having moved back to Sydney for over 12 months now, we've only been to the beach once, and that was only because our friends asked us out. Left to our own initiative, we'd probably never get around to it (this summer anyway). We ended up having a wonderful time at Balmoral beach and our little boy just couldn't get enough of the sand, building sand castles and running into the waves. Our family of three are now a few shades darker and I am happy to say that we've done the beach thing this summer, even if it's only been once.
