Alyssa: We spent the Easter break in Fiji staying at the Radisson Resort. We had a great time splashing about in the pool, soaking in the tropical sun (when it decided to come out) and spending quality time with our little fellow. Some of our friends thought we were brave/naive for attempting to holiday with a baby, and we don't dispute that it could be tough going at times (especially dinner time), however, Yung would tell you he wouldn't have it any other way.Fiji turned out to be a good destination to take Matty. It was only a 3 hour & 50 minute plane ride (Matty slept for 1 hour each time after take off and before landing and left us with approxiamtely 1 hour and 50 minutes to try to entertain him). The Radisson resort itself was beautiful, being only 7 months new. It was a good family resort with a family pool (with a bit of sand on the side for kids to build sand castles), toddler pool (which was only about knee deep) and a childen's pool . There was no concept of time on a resort holiday because everyday seems the same: sunshine, humid weather, buffet breakfast, swimming in the pool, lunch, rest, more pool time, rest, dinner time, cocktail time ( we didn't indulge in this past activity on this trip) and finally, bed time. Matty was a hit with the local Fijian staff. They commented how much he looked like Angelina Jolie's adopted son, Maddox (all Asians must look the same to non-Asians), and were more than happy to carry him around the restaurant to give Yung & I some quiet time to ourselves to enjoy our meals. Needless to say, Matty slept very well on the resort. It must be due to all that time spent out in the sun because he slept for 2 hours during nap sessions (he never sleeps for that long at home) and was knackered by bed time sleeping in until 8-9am each morning.
All in all we had a great family break, and now look forward to taking Matty on a longer holiday to Singapore and Thailand in about 2 mths time.
