Alyssa: Today I turn 30 which I will fondly remember as the year that I became a mum with Matty being the best present that I could wish for. Yung & I were lucky to be able to celebrate the occasion with a nice meal out since my mum was able to baby sit Matty (my mum came down for a few weeks to help look after me & the little fellow). We tried out the newly opened Japanese restaurant Nobu at Crown casino not knowing what to expect of the food but hoped that it should be decent given I intended to satisfy my cravings of raw seafood once and for all now that I am no longer pregnant.
As it turned out, Nobu was an excellent choice with the food being absolutely divine and reasonably priced. We learnt that the first Nobu restaurant opened in New York and was a partnership between Robert De Niro & Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa who spent 12 years living in South America. This explains the exotic menu which can be classified as fusion Japanese and South American. Some of the interesting dishes we tried included sashimi tacos, tataki beef with ponzu, broiled black cod with miso & tataki octopus. I had to remind myself that I was no longer eating for two and still had 10 kg of post pregnancy weight to lose so I managed to exercise a bit of self-control on this occasion. My birthday dinner was completed with a chocolate bento box which turned out to be a warm chocolate souffle cake with shiso syrup, white chocolate sauce and green tea ice cream.
And what did I wish for this year? That my thirties would be another decade of great memories spent with the people I love and care for with the added bonus of looking like I’m still in my twenties!
BTW, Angela and Amy, here are photos of your gorgeous flowers - many thanks again.
