Mini Tropical Break

Yung: While the rest of Australia seemed to be pouring into Melbourne for the spring carnival and Melbourne Cup event, Alyssa and I took the opportunity to head the other direction for a 5 day mini escape to tropical Palm Cove. We were dying for a break just to chill out, and dying to defrost in some warmer weather, and Palm Cove didn't disappoint on both accounts. We stayed at the Outrigger Beach Club and Spa, right on the main drag and beach front. We spent our entire time around the resort day in day out just swimming, eating and sleeping (Now that's certainly a routine we can get used to really fast). We also had an opportunity to catch up with Tru, Sandra and family, as they were already holidaying up the coast from Brisbane. Austin has grown considerably since previous trips (no more tantrums) and Valarie has certainly grown to be quite an active baby (look at her swimming skills, it leaves auntie Alyssa to shame !!).

No more swimming for me..I'm buggered
The dining experience at the Outrigger was superb - especially at Nu Nu restuarant. The food was so fantastic that we quickly became regulars for breakfast, lunch and dinner !! (The owners were Melbournians, which probably explains why Nu Nu was such a local stand out)

Is that breakfast ??

Girls night out.

5 days retreat at a resort is just way too short, particularly when you're Melbournians (and arriving back in Melbourne airport still with the Palm Cove T-shirt and board shorts on only to be hit with 10 degrees temperature...we need another warm break !!).

So glad you guys had a chance to escape with some R&R. Isn't the Tropical North wonderful?

Although the Melbourne Cup was an exciting race this year, I'm relieved we chose not to be there in person this time - it was a cold and nasty day.
