Spaghetti vongole
Alyssa: I really look forward to weekends - and not just for obviously reasons such as I don’t have to go to work (I like working, but I don’t like it that much!) or that I could spend a good 4 hours of uninterrupted shopping. My real anticipation is the fact that Yung reserves the weekend to cook something special - and if I may say so myself – Yung’s cooking rocks! This weekend I was treated to Yung’s house speciality– spaghetti vongole with clam and white wine jus. When we first came down to Melbourne, Yung was on the look out for the best spaghetti vongole in town since that’s his favourite pasta dish. In Sydney, we had our favourite haunts, but down here, it was unchartered territory. Finally, after some searching, we found a great Italian place in St Kilda near Yung's work and for a while we would eat there for dinner whenever we had a craving for vongole. But in recent times, the place had not been consistent with their menu, and on occasions, we would turn up only to be disappointed that they didn’t have vongole that night because their supply was down. Yung resolved to satisfy his taste buds by making his own spaghetti vongole, and after a few trial and error (Yung never consult in cook books), we’re definately on a winner. And just in case you’re wondering what’s my contribution to the table - well I make the salad of course :)
