Weekend Getaway

Alyssa: You are probably wondering why we've been offline for so long, and the truth of the matter is, us Sydney natives are not coping well with Melbourne winter. It seems like the days are shorter and the skies are perpetually overcast with cold winds that just cut right through you. Such drastic conditions means that there is no incentive to do anything other than huddle in front of the heater and curse the bad weather.

However, this weekend we were brave enough to brace the chill for a winter weekend getaway out of Melbourne city. We booked ourselves in for an overnight stay at Moonah Links Golf & Spa Resort, a 1.5 hours drive from Melbourne. Setting off on Saturday morning, we left an overcast Melbourne behind and was welcomed by deceivingly sunny clear skies at the resort. Moonah Links is a championship golf course located in Victoria's golf 'Cups' region on the Mornington Peninsula, a new course with beautiful seascape surrounds - and all for $100 for a round of 18 holes.

We passed on the opportunity to play golf this time since neither of us were particularly enthusiastic about the prospect of standing in the cold freezing our booties off. However, the golf course provided a perfect back drop for a weekend of chilling out in front of an open fire place reading a book and enjoying a bottle of red. True to my traits, I did not miss out on an opportunity for a pampering session at the Endota Day Spa at the resort, where after a 1.5 hours of massage and facial, I was all relaxed and ready to unwind regardless of the temperature.

We're now back in Melbourne, and as you can see from the photo, it really sums up Melbourne winter: dreary, cold and without fail, overcast skies and rain. We need another holiday!!
