Alyssa: It has been a few weeks since we've been blogging - partly due to both of us taking turns getting sick with the flu. We're yet to climatise to Melbourne's winter although I've been told the current cold weather is not yet reflective of Melbourne's notorious winter weather. So after a lot of vitamin C, chicken soup, high dosages of Codral and antibiotics and layers upon layers of coats and jumpers, we're well on our way to recovery.
In celebration of better health, Yung & I together with our buddy Sean have been taking day trips on the weekend to discover the rest of Victoria. We've driven to the small country town of Geelong and ferried across to Mornington Peninsula for some sight seeing and boutique winery.
We had such a great time wine tasting that we did it again this weekend - venturing out to the Yarra Valley. Our first stop was at De Portoli's vineyard for lunch. The six course degustation lunch menu must have neutralised my taste buds because every glass of wine I sampled after that just tasted like, well, alcohol!
Driving through the Yarra was a very scenic experience with gorgeous rolling hills in the distance. I ended up stocking up on Kiwi wines (yes, they're made from 100% kiwi fruit)from one of the boutique vineyards at the Yarra as well as some bottles of yummy reserved merlot from Coldstream Hills vineyard. I am sure an occasion will arise to cork my new found wine collection - and girls - I will stock up on the yummy award winning De Portoli's Noble One dessert wine for our next get together!
